8th Grade Guidance Lesson Topics - TN State Board of Education Standards
The main focus of the four eighth grade guidance lessons is to prepare students for the next phase of their educational career, high school. First students will use the Tennessee College & Career Planning Website, www.planning your dreams.org, to complete the Kuder Career Interest Inventory. During the second lesson students will again use this same career planning website to complete research on potential careers as identified through their individual interest inventory results. Next, students will select three Career Day presenters to visit on Career Day based on their individual career interest. Finally, student will use the information they have gleaned from their interest inventory, research, and Career Day experiences to select a course of study for high school in addition to specific classes for his or her ninth grade year.
